Horses Congregate to Catch a Glimpse of a Stunning Foal With Distinctive Markings

Isn’t Mother Nature incredible? She never makes a blunder and only creates marvels… like this lovely foal…

For many years, Jackie and Scott Nelson have owned and operated their Down Under Color ranch in Melbourne, Florida. Their gorgeous American Paint Horses are well-known.

They’ve had years of expertise with their horses, including breeding and giving birth. As a result, it’s reasonable to expect that there won’t be anything to surprise them during the delivery of a filly.

When they saw the new filly that had joined their family, however, they were in for a major surprise.

Poka gave birth to a filly named Coconut, who is a Medicine Hat, a very uncommon breed of horse.

A Medicine Hat Horse is a sacred horse in Native American culture all throughout the United States. These horses were said to possess magical abilities and bring good fortune.

These horses were said to be able to detect approaching danger and defend their riders in combat. In the tribe, only the Chief or Medicine Man were permitted to ride a Medicine Hat Horse.

What distinguishes a Medicine Hat Horse from others?

A Medicine Hat Horse is a white horse with colorful patches on its ears and top of its head. Other marks are also possible.

This is known as their shield if they have a patch of color on their breast, like Coconut does.

Another feature that makes a Medicine Hat Horse particularly rarer is having one blue eye with a black line around it, which Coconut also has.

The “Sky Eye” is the name given to one of the blue eyes.

“This eye is known as a Sky Eye in Indian Mythology,” Down Under Color says. If the Chief or Medicine Man dies in battle, their spirits will be carried to their Gods by this one blue sky eye.”

When Jackie and Scott Nelson first spotted Coconut, it must have been a sight to behold. She wasn’t just a Medicine Hat Horse, she had other marks that made her even more unique. This is a one-of-a-kind and stunning filly.

It’s understandable that they wanted to show off Coconut, who was just two days old at the time.

A day after their birth, Jackie and Scott Nelson captured Coconut and Poka on their first outing. Coconut is still adjusting to her shaky legs, but she seemed to like being outside with her mother.

Coconut and Poka are visited by all of the ranch’s horses. The horses form a line against the fence in order to have the best view of Coconut.

These horses are curious about the newcomer to town.

Coconut quickly begins to trot about on her spindly legs. She was incorrect if she imagined she could run on her own.

Coconut’s mother follows her almost everywhere she goes. Poka will stay guard between Coconut and any other human or animal if Coconut goes too close to the fence.

The family dog even gives Coconut her first kiss!

Everyone on the Down Under Color farm wanted a piece of the unique filly’s attention, and their dog didn’t want to be left out.

Coconut appears to be equally as interested in the dog, but she backs it up with a kiss. She wasn’t ready for such a tight relationship with the dog!
