Couple Spends More Than 55 Thousand Dollars To Improve The Quality Of Life Of Their 20 Dogs

When individuals want to give a puppy a shot at life, they usually want it to be a puppy and in excellent condition, which is why handicapped or elderly dogs are often the final option.

What these individuals don’t realize is that, while a dog with special needs may be more difficult to care for, it is just as cute and lovable as any other puppy.

Fortunately, Chris and Mariesa Hughes of Clifton Park, New York, have been in charge of assisting numerous puppies, and the pair has adopted 20 of them, all of whom are senior and have health issues.

According to Bored Panda, the couple operates a non-profit company called The Mr. Mo Project, which was founded when their veteran pet named “Mo” died and they were forced to pay significant vet bills.

Chris and Mariesa were well aware that caring for an aging dog was not an inexpensive proposition, which is why so many were surrendered to shelters or abandoned to their destiny.

Given the circumstances, the pair determined to do everything they could to ensure that these canines received the care they required.

The Mr. Mo Project posted the following on their website:

“For the remainder of their lives, senior dogs deserve the best.” We feel that senior dogs, too, deserve to be adopted!”

Currently, the organization has saved hundreds of dogs from euthanasia and assisted them in receiving treatment and finding permanent homes, but 20 of those dogs have been adopted by the couple themselves, to whom they try to provide the best quality of life possible, even remodeling their home for which they have spent approximately $55,000.

Among the purchases are a $5,000 customised king-size bed so they can sleep with their pets and a $30,000 hydrotherapy pool so the dogs can exercise.

The house, on the other hand, is outfitted with ramps, plastic sheets, and mats, among other items, to make the setting as pleasant as possible. Additionally, the couple spends 45 minutes each morning feeding and administering meds to them.

Chris stated, ”

“Living with 20 dogs is insane, but we make it work because we have a solid routine.”
