Shelter Dogs Who Wouldn’t Let Go Of Each Other Find A Real Home Together

Apollo and Adonis were so terrified when they were placed at a kill shelter in Texas last month that they wouldn’t let go of each other.

According to Cindy Droogmans, founder of A-Team Elite Rescue Canines, a rescue organisation headquartered in Long Island, New York, the bonded pair of dogs were quivering with anxiety. And she felt she had to aid them in some way.

So Droogmans planned a journey to Huntington, New York, where they were treated for heartworm, which, according to Droogmans, is probably why they were left in the first place.

Even at the veterinarian, Apollo and Adonis were inseparable.

When they were well enough, it was time to look for a home for them. This might be difficult for dogs that are really attached to each other. In an ideal world, they’d be able to find a home together, but that’s a lot to ask, especially because one dog is already a big commitment.

But the notion of separating Apollo and Adonis was too much to bear.

Droogmans told The Dodo at the time, “A bonded pair is often tough to place, yet look at them.” “How can they ever be separated?” says the narrator.

“On Facebook, a friend of mine posted about them needing a home and to be kept together,” Jennifer told The Dodo. “I took one look at them and applied to adopt them right away.”

Sheena and Chara, the couple’s other rescue canines, are already part of the family. “We’ve been wanting more rescues since moving into our new house a year ago, with four acres,” Jennifer added. “I didn’t believe we’d be chosen because we live so far away from the rescue organisation and already have two dogs, but the next day I got a phone saying they loved our application and [asked] if we wanted them. ‘Of sure,’ we said.”

Apollo and Adonis traveled to their forever home, wearing identical red and blue bandanas.

Apollo and Adonis, on the other hand, would not have to be.

Droogmans was approached by a couple from Virginia who were interested in the unique pair. Jennifer and Donald, who reside on a large piece of property, wanted to give both dogs a home. Droogmans decided that this was the ideal place for the best buddies to call home.

However, after they arrived, something truly terrifying occurred: Adonis became agitated and bolted as the family was unloading the dogs.

The individuals who were urgently looking for the dog grew more fearful with each passing hour. Adonis’ whereabouts were advertised all over Facebook. Some of the messages included things like, “Adonis is still wearing his red bandana.”

Droogmans stated, “He was hiding in barns and beneath homes.” “We have to go carefully since Adonis is terrified.”

Despite the fact that more than 24 hours had elapsed, no one had given up on him.

Finally, a rescue crew located him and was able to approach him near enough to bring him back to safety.

Droogmans added, “The tracking team performed a great job.” “I was inconsolably weeping and trembling. He has returned to his brother.”
