Tiniest Hairless Puppy Shows Up At Shelter Begging For Love

Amanda Harris hurried to the Atlanta Humane Society to pick up tiny Pippa to foster her the moment she saw a photo of her.

Pippa, her mother, father, and sibling had just arrived at the shelter, but the little 7-week-old puppy was the saddest of them all. She was fully bald, inflamed, and scabbed over. The entire tiny dog family had mange, but she was the most severely affected.

Pippa’s physique appeared frail, yet she only wanted to snuggle. Harris brought the little puppy home with medicine and spent time with her around the clock to help her recuperate, and she was astounded by the size of her personality.

“She likes nothing more than burrowing under blankets and snuggling,” Harris told The Dodo. “There were times when I’d look in on her and wonder where she’d gone, just to find her snugly tucked down under all her blankets. It’s adorably wonderful.”

Pippa enjoyed cuddling even if her skin was uncomfortable and unpleasant. Harris’ tender care made all the difference, and the puppy’s skin began to mend after only a few days. After a few weeks, her inflamed red skin had calmed down, and her light cream fur had begun to fill in nicely.

“Weekly medicated baths, medicines to treat her skin, and correct diet were all part of her care,” Harris added. “As soon as she started getting adequate treatment, her skin began to recover astonishingly rapidly.”

Pippa’s amazing personality continued to show through even more as she recovered. Despite her diminutive appearance, Pippa demonstrated a lion’s heart, as do many Chihuahuas.

Her foster mother has two huge dogs, the largest of which is a pit bull weighing 80 pounds. Pippa, on the other hand, didn’t seem to mind that she was considerably smaller than them.

“She enjoyed chasing their tails, snuggling with them, and trying to keep up with them in a tug-of-war,” Harris added. “I also carried her to work every day in a little sling purse made for holding small animals – she adored it and was always a huge hit!”

Pippa also became rather well-known among those who followed her path on social media, to the point where she met her permanent family. Terri Dickson and her family got the small puppy just a few weeks ago, and she’s already had a big influence on their life.

“I had to go visit her when I saw the images of her when she first came,” Dickson told The Dodo. “It was all over for me once she was in my arms.” I’ve never made a better decision in my life. She’s extraordinary.”

Pippa was soon reunited with her family and is settling in nicely. She’s found a playmate in another family dog, so she’ll never know what it’s like to feel uncomfortable again.
