Pelicans Are Happy That An Egg Finally Hatched After Waiting 6 Years

A stunning pair of pelicans are housed at Twinnies Pelican and Seabird Rescue, a rescue facility in Australia. After more than six years of hoping to become parents, they are relieved that their egg has finally hatched.

For many years, Mr. Percival and his partner have nested and cared for their eggs in the hopes that they may hatch and give birth to children.

Unfortunately, none of their eggs hatched throughout this entire period. However, when their caretakers devised a strategy to assist the pair, everything changed.

The two pelicans’ keepers made the decision to leave the other pelican’s egg in Mr. Percival’s nest in the month of September.

The helpline posted the following on Facebook:

Mr. Percival never gave up on attempting to conceive a pelican chick. We feel so bad for him since he appears to be in great distress after seeing others around holding newborn pelicans. In order to truly make him happy this time, we did something fantastic for him.

Australian pelicans are often found in vast areas of open water devoid of thick aquatic vegetation and big colonies.

Their adorable chicks are born blind, naked, and totally reliant on their parents for survival. They typically lay between one and three eggs every year.

After placing the egg in Mr. Percival’s nest, it finally hatched after many days, and everyone was eager to see how the pair would respond. All of the rescue center employees were able to observe Mr. Percival’s excitement when the big day finally arrived.

Pelican Twinnies shared:

Mr. Percival exuded pride. He caused us to cry. He and his spouse are obviously madly in love with their brand-new pelican chick.

Percival has shown to be a highly loving and committed father from the chick’s birth, devoting himself entirely to the wellbeing of his offspring.

Mr. Percival and his spouse, who is likewise ecstatic to have a chick, divide all the raising chores (feeding and nesting).

The chick is developing normally, according to center officials, and is making progress since its father is constantly taking care of it.
