Man Finds Seven Abandoned Puppies On An Uninhabited Island

Junior Cook had no idea that he would take part in a remarkable rescue when he was scuba diving off a small Canadian island close to Cross Keys, Manitoba. The little island, which was meant to be abandoned, made a number of weird noises when he and his traveling companion were at sea.

They weren’t really interested in what occurred because they knew the island had been abandoned, but Junior was, and he made the decision to return the next day.

Junior was worried about the occurrence and wanted to look into it more. He felt the noises may be someone screaming for aid.

When Junior arrived, he was shocked by what he discovered: seven puppies that had been abandoned and were now whimpering and running about the island in distress.

The guy called Manitoba Animal Alliance, a local group that is committed to saving animals and transferring them to local shelters or from other places, in order to get them a permanent home, since he wanted to assist them and couldn’t bear to leave them there.

As the organization posted on Facebook:

“This is not a unique instance; it occurs frequently in Manitoba and around the world.”

Junior and his companion initially believed the noises were coming from wolves, but fortunately, he made the decision to return to the island to investigate.

The rescue center’s director, Deb Vandekerkhove, told the CBC:

“It was already becoming dark when he and his companion were outside when they heard some noises coming from the island. When they used their binoculars, all they could make out were some black shadows and a lot of sobbing. At first, they believed them to be wolves.”

Even though the group was eager to assist right away, arranging transportation for this specific situation proved to be more difficult than anticipated. In order to feed the dogs for the next three days while they worked on finding a means to transport them off the island, they decided to distribute food parcels.
