This Family Rescued A Dog That Doesn’t Have Long To Live And Shows Him What It’s Like To Feel Loved

A family saved a dog that was about to pass away so that he might experience love in his final moments. Dog named Asher, who was around 14 years old, was unable to move and had pee and excrement all over his fur when animal control authorities discovered him in a field in Orange County, California.

Asher was given up by the agents to a nearby shelter, where he was held for five days as a stray dog to give Asher’s family time to come forward and claim him. But regrettably, nobody did. Asher was supposed to be placed up for adoption as a next step, but the shelter thinks that because of his severe discomfort, adoption may not have been the wisest course of action.

However, Kelly realized she had to assist Asher when she learned what was about to happen to him. She felt she earned the chance to be in a family, even if he didn’t have many days left.

After Kelly brought Asher home, she and her husband Andy gave him a bath and gave him a brush.

Cathy said:

“At times, I believe cleaning them is more beneficial to us than to them. However, I am also aware of how lovely it must feel to be helped up and to be clean.

However, Asher had some reservations about this aspect of the arrangement.

Cathy said:

He was really frustrated when we initially brought him here. He was fast turning to correct us with his lips since he was uncomfortable with being touched or brushed. I believe that the discomfort was more caused by the unfamiliarity of it.

Asher had to be momentarily muzzled while Kelly mended it out of fear of getting bit. However, Kelly and her husband were most impacted by Asher’s immobility, which turned out to be caused by a disorder called spondylosis deformans.

Kelly stated on Facebook:

I’ll admit that when we were bathing him, Andy said, “You know, sometimes euthanasia isn’t wrong. This guy is awful-looking.

Andy wasn’t mistaken, so I hushed him and said, “Well, he’s here, so he’ll have dignity now, keep helping me please look.”

Asher gradually started to unwind, despite his reservations, and Kelly saw this as evidence that she had made the correct decision.
