This Dog Spent His Entire Life In A Chicken Coop, Now He’s Finally Free

The majority of Jag’s 13 years have been spent imprisoned alongside 300 other canines in a chicken coop in Maryland, in the United States. When Last Chance Animal Rescue’s rescuers discovered them, they were all in terrible condition.

Some of them had hair so matted that they were unable to walk or move, and they had no access to fresh water or the outdoors. Given his likely lengthy existence, Jag is thought to have been the group’s oldest dog overall.

It was difficult to find foster or permanent homes for all the dogs. The dogs’ bones were extremely fragile from spending so much time in a cage, and several of them shattered their legs when they jumped.

Jag’s adoptive family told him to go back since it was too challenging. Until he met Micah Larsen Brannon, the owner of multiple rescue dogs, and Shep, the dog who had his eyes amputated due to abuse, it appeared that Jag would never be able to find a temporary home, much less a permanent one.

It turns out that when Jag’s foster family took him back, Micah was a volunteer at the rescue facility. “I brought him home to take care of him because I couldn’t bear the thought of him being alone in the office at night,” Micah said.

Jag is a good fit because she already has three rescue dogs in her household. Due to the fact that he has spent much of his life surrounded by dogs and has had little human contact, he finds solace in his siblings and enjoys spending time with them.

He doesn’t appreciate or comprehend human interaction, Micah stated. He prefers to be by himself or with other dogs. Even if it’s difficult not to love him, we appreciate his characteristics.

Due to brain damage he received in his prior life, Jag started suffering seizures a week after moving into his new foster home. Micah made the decision to adopt Jag because he knew it would be very difficult for him to find an adoptive home given his old age, his personality, and his epilepsy.
